Room 402; Early Saturday Evening.

Mar 08, 2008 15:36

A.J. laid in the center of his room, where he'd usually be sitting, working on his project for class or maybe some new drawings or painting, but this time, he was definitely laying, flat on his back, limbs flayed out, and staring at the pinpoints of constellations he had painted on the ceiling. Occasionally, he'd remember to blink, but it wasn't ( Read more... )

River had been out for a walk, and on her way back she passed the fourth floor corridor. She was listening as usual, and A.J. was a friend and his mind came through clearly. She wasn't used to sensing him like that. After a light knock on the door she entered quietly, because even if he would have said no she wouldn't have left him. A barrier went up around her mind though; no use for her to get overwhelmed.

A.J. was just about to mutter that whoever was knocking could come in, but, by the time he opened his mouth, he'd heard the door opening and so he resolved to sigh instead, closing his mouth as if, with the lost opportunity, he wasn't going to bother saying anything. He looked at the ceiling still, the dull sound of the rabbit still chewing on his sweater in his ears, before he offered a simple, apathetic, "Hey." He didn't even look to see who it was; he wasn't feeling much like it mattered.

River recgonised Bob, of course. She sat down cross-legged on the floor next to A.J. and reached out to stroke the rabbit. "Bob's eating your clothes," she informed him.

A.J.'s eyes shifted a little to follow River's hand; he, briefly, gave it a light smile, as if part of his was just glad that he'd stopped looking at the ceiling. Nibbling away, Bob just made a discontented little sound somewhere deep within her in annoyance at being disturbed. "He's just chewing," A.J. muttered, wondering if maybe the rabbit's name was actually Bob and he just lucked out on his guess this morning. "Not harming anything. I don't mind."

Annette should probably just let him be, but she'd been concerned for him all day. That and she didn't feel like going home, like her mom wanted. So, here she was, knocking tentatively on his door.

A.J. was duly away of another knock on the door; unlike River, though, it appeared that whoever this was wasn't going to just come right in. "It's open," he muttered, although loudly enough that whoever it was would definitely be able to hear him.

Opening the door, Annette stepped in with a quiet, "Hey," because if he were resting, or looking as though he would much rather be alone, she'd just... well she'd just turn and go.

"Hey," A.J. responded, a bit hollow, because, just like when River came in, he didn't really bother paying much attention to who it was. The only thing he seemed to be wanting to put his attention into was staring at the ceiling and continuing to ignore Bob. His foot moved a little, rolling slightly to the side, but that was just about it.
