I'm still in training, so nothing is firm yet. And it's far from full time. Doesn't feel like it counts.

Yeah, my perky optimism is in an "ebb" state right now, but I tend to agree that tangling your personal narrative too deeply in a larger narrative makes it harder to become the exception who gets a job. Looking for opportunities can be kind of fun though. For a little while, anyway.

Ryan has asked me to stop reading Above the Law, which is a blog about the law industry and is following all the layoffs and everything. It makes me NUTS. Hard to be optimistic when it's all seems so negative

Hiya! Are you in town? Did you move to town? It's a crazy next few weeks, but I can definitely break off a chunk of time! Perhaps while Churchill is in town as well?

I'll be in town the 26th -> 4th (with a couple of appointments I can't move, like the ball dropping on the 31st). Don't move heaven and earth to coordinate me with wageslave, because my best chance of seeing him has been arranged already: redheadedmuse invited him to a party on the 29th, and obviously she can be persuasive in ways I can't. (Not that it would be bad to find a way to get you in to that - there will definitely be karaoke.)
