Haha, totally agree with Julia. Nobody's Side is amazing, and, I love Idina, but her version is utter fail compared to Julia's, in my opinion.
Sara too. Is really amazing. Have you heard 'Believe: A New Musical'? She did a few demos for it and there's one, 'My Darling', which I think is particularly fantastic.
Kristin Cheno(amzing in all aspects!!) I also love Idina Melzel's voice! Lea Michele is awesome too considering her age! Kerry Ellis, Adam Pascal, Tracie Thoms...these are my favorites!
Do you think it's necessary for an actor in a musical to have the most amazing singing voice (assuming they can sing the score)? I also think it depends onthe part!!
The usuals - Audra McDonald, Marin Mazzie, Norm Lewis, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Patti LuPwn. And this is probably personal bias shining though, but I've seen or heard Beth Malone do probably over a dozen roles now and (a) her range is insane and (b) I've never heard her even come close to botching a note.
Gosh, I probably haven't heard enough of a range. Kristin Chenoweth, Laura Benanti and Audra McDonald strike me as having stunning voices that both sound classically trained (I know Cheno was, but Audra?)
I love Idina Menzel's voice, especially the metallic edge it has to it, and no one can compare to Julia Murney - they're my two favourite women to listen to, hands down. I really like Lea Delaria's voice too, while we're talking unique sounds...
Men - I love the richness and vibrato of Raul Esparza's voice, and Gavin Creel's singing is basically perfect, but my favourite is probably Billy Porter.

As long as an actor can sing the score and can play the part well, I dont think having an amazing voice is necessary.
