A multi-racial cast could be tricky, especially the roles of Stanley and Stella. There's so much disfunction and harm between the two that it could easily be seen as racist.

Personally, I think it'd only be racist if it were a NEW show and not a play/movie that's been established for years. Chances are, if you're seeing the show, you KNOW the show already. You know Stanley and Stella and what happens. You can't really cry racist unless they change the script to reflect race.

TBH, I think the Kowalskis would (could?) be worked as an inter-racial couple, since his background is mentioned quite a bit.
