When I worked in Boots over xmas, Stephen Gerrard was also the name of a guy the security guards kept chasing out the shop because he'd been banned for shopliftin/being naughty. I'm assuming that this is a different person to the one you mentioned...

It is just depressing angst and may well end in depressing sex (I'm not sure if uplifting sex fits, but regardless, if I pluck up the nerve it will be kinky).

According to the ep guide @ William & Elyse's dS page and the imdb listing, Gerrard doesn't have a first name - so sounds like your dastardly plan might work...
