Hi, everyone. Catching up on reading LJ (somewhat).

Nothing particular to say, except:

It is with some chagrin that I note, going back through the fairly substantial body of work that is my poetry file, I realize that literally half of my poetic output of the past 15 years has been spurred by the following situation ( Read more... )

Alternately, if you want to be a more productive poet, you just need to spend more time lusting after people who aren't available, aren't stable, have STDs, are underage, or are otherwise off limits.

Aren't I helpful?

The problem I run in to is most other types of things don't seem to stir enough emotion to require poetry as an outlet. ;) Good luck, though.

I haven't seriously worked on writing poetry for years, but yeah, I remember having a few of those types of poems stare up at me from the writing desk. There was one particular piece of drek that I wrote my senior year of high school, where the first letter of each line spelled out the name of the girl I was crushing on at the moment.

My 12th grade english teacher, bless her heart, took ONE look at it that lasted maybe 3 seconds, and from the look on her face she had obviously already figured out what I had done. "You can do better than that, Isaac." I stopped writing poems about sex for aWHILE after that.
