I agree, mainly because it's been so long since I've seen Magnum's opening credits that I didn't get just how clever the Solo version really is.

Very clever. I have now realized that if I ever saw the original video I've blocked it out because it probably made zero sense even when I was a kid.

Ah, the 80's. A simpler time, before videos had to really mean... anything. That's the beauty of pioneering something. It's only in hindsight someone can punk you on the Internet.
