OFFICIAL WARDEN ANNOUNCEMENT! Completely public.

Feb 19, 2011 22:46

Comrades, If you should encounter a situation in which my inmate: "Barron Sharpe" is aggressively removing his gloves at you, I would like to officially authorize punching him as an acceptable preventative measure against his trying to hold your hand.

Under no circumstances should you allow him to hold your hand.

factory announcement, barron sharpe eats brains :c, lolwardennow?

Comrade, I think we could all use a little more detail on what's so terrible about holding hands with your Inmate.

...

Not to tell you how to do your job or anything, but I'm pretty sure this is something you want to be telling the Admiral he can't do anymore. Is this related to how you were talking at him like a recently dumped boyfriend?

I...

That's a fairly good point. I'll contact him. Still, don't let him try to hold your hand.

Yes. During the flood, he made me think that we'd been in a relationship for three months.

Nothing-- It wasn't anything bad, but there's a thing he can do, where if he touches your hand, he can change your memories, so if he tries to touch your hand, you should punch him.

Unless he has gloves on, if he has his gloves on he's probably just being friendly.

Yes, it's magic, you hold his hand, and he can put any memories he wants into your head.

This is why I need a new warden.

Comrade, if you don't want me telling people that you can change their memories then... be less likely to change their memories!

I can't believe you tried to tell me that the file wasn't about you!

I can't believe that you actually think that I could just use that power whenever I want to. There are limits, you know. [Limits that he's just going to make up if you ask about it.]

And the file wasn't about me. [Still holding onto that one.]

What are the limits?

And Comrade, you did to me what the person in the file is guilty of doing! And you have the same name as them, and you talked about the same people as the ones who are named in it, and... you are obviously the person in this file! It is obvious, Comrade!

Obvious!

Noted.

[Private]

[After reading other comments.] I might know some ways someone could get their memories returned, I might have ways of accomplishing this.

That don't involve psychics.

[Prefect... is so very suspicious. He's annoyingly aware that he felt like the only warden to be seriously pushy about harsh punishments when Narvin did something similar.]

Do your ways have anything to do with that thing you got off Narvin? Because I don't want two people messing around in my mi--

I don't know, Comrade. I'm going to ask the Admiral about reducing his abilities anyway.

I want to make something very clear before I say anything else. I am a professional and my relationship with Narvin aside, I don't rely on him for my decisions. I've already berated him for his negligence, insensitivity, and gross incompetence, I was the one that delivered him to Zero, and if I didn't know that he was under duress at the time, I probably would have left him for it.

That being said, I'm in an occupation where memory loss is a very real risk, so I've developed a system to both protect my personal information and to serve as reminders in case my head's ever been fucked with. It's not intrusive, but if you're gonna be dealing with someone that can affect your memory and a flood does something that gives him back his abilities, you're going to need a way to puzzle out that something is up.

You're in a relationship with Narvin?

[He didn't know that. He just knew that you'd gotten the memory changing dohickey. He's just NATURALLY SUSPICIOUS.]

[...Well this is awkward.]

Comrade, rest assured, if I was in a relationship with someone and they altered the memories of someone else? I probably wouldn't leave them for it. This is the Barge. Having low standards is probably a good way to operate here, in terms of what relationships you're in.

[And now that that's settled:]

All right, Comrade, what's your system? Can you show me?

Understood. Seems like you have your work cut out for you. [It makes him a little glad to be an inmate.]

I know, Comrade. It could be worse though, he doesn't seem to be particularly violent.

[Pause]

I don't believe we've spoken before, are you new on board, Brother?

Yes. My name is Gaheris Rhade. I'm afraid I'm not acquainted with you, either.

Prefect. I'm pleased to meet you, Gaheris Rhade! Are you an inmate here? Or a Warden?
