another opening, another show . . .

It feels as if my last show only just ended, but another one will be happening this Sunday, crazily enough.  It's a different situaion from our usual.  The play is a one-act, just under half an hour long, and the entire run consists of two performances in a single day -- at a small theater festival in downtown SF.  Dozens of other companies will be ( Read more... )

Sounds intriguing and those types of theatre festivals where there are dozens of productions jostling for attention really demand something out of the ordinary...lots of luck...and it would be lovely to see the Pierrot, he sounds delightful.

Our show isn't quite as out of the ordinary as we might like, considering that the group has done the same play in three past festivals. But four out of the five actors are new to their parts this time, so I hope it'll seem fresh.

Thanks for the good wishes.

You DIE in your play? Ack! But it's cool that your character's story is the centerpiece of the play, and you get to do something different. :)

Well, I hope the audience will be thinking "Ack!" rather than "Good riddance!" But me, I love it. All actors love death scenes, and I haven't had one since I was about 16.

This avatar of yours looks exactly like my boss.

Oooh, that sounds like a part you can really get your teeth - and darker side - into. And eye candy is never a bad thing, ever!

I went and saw Billy Elliot in the Big Smoke last night, and there were some truly candy-worth ballet dancers in there...cracking show as well.

Are we going to be able to go and have a poke round the Opera House/Ballet during our whistle-stop tour? I'd very much love to.

The Big Smoke -- is that what folks in Gloucestershire call London?

You may find yourself dragged to the Opera House on your very first day in SF. Mondays are ideal because that's when the stage crew have their day off, which means we can traipse around in all the best places -- such as the stage and the orchestra pit. My co-workers will be surprised to see me underfoot when I'm supposed to be on holiday, but that's their lot in life. They'll just have to put up with it.
