Avatar looks one big load of all the 3-D stuff they can cram in. Big budget and show off what they can do.

I have a feeling it's going to be remembered more for the technology it pioneered rather than the story itself.

Yeah, that's what I figure. Also sees to be one of those films made for the big screen and is just going to suck when it gets on dvd

We kinna laughed at the end though, I mean if earthlings really just did not give a shit about Pandora and only wanted the ore or whatever it was, they could just come back and nuke the hell out of the planet and still get it lol. But at least it would take 5 years or so for them to get back.. but whatever x).

Sequels, man. Sequels.

Haha! I thought the story was definitely something we'd seen before, but in the end it worked. The 3D was def. better than normal (you could tell he worked on it for 10 years) and the faces... as an animator, I was amazed at the little movements they got out of the faces! :D

And yeah, that last fight, you totally go into it like, "WHAT? How could they win that?" but they did a pretty bad-ass job of it!

I liked it! :D

Haha yes, what's funny is I hadn't seen Ferngully in forever, and it was on TV the other day and lol yes it is like.. the EXACT same story, maybe minus a Tim Curry villian. But it's Ferngully with explosions and actual good battle scenes and stuff, so i liked it x).

Well I saw Avatar yesterday. A lot of the story elements are just so stupid, like some alien race that -happends- to act oddly like an earth Native American stereotype

Yeah the more I hear about it the more uninterested I am in seeing it than I already was. But I lol'd irl at the furry thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I saw it, it's worth seeing on the big screen cos the cg and stuff is really neat. I just think it's funny though when scifi stories have races that are basically earth races or ideas of earth races, just w/ alien bodies x).

Like, even though I would totally want to support my bb girl Zoe in this, I was just never interested in the movie from the start really. I feel like there is something wrong with me because I feel like I'm the only one who wasn't feelin the blue stuff when I saw the trailer XP

It did look like there had to be a lot of skill and all to go into it though so I thoroughly appreciate that.

And yeah you're right about the sci fi thing XP GET MORE CREATIVE, FOLKS?

No, you're not the only one. I was so creeped out by the promotional materials that I can't bring myself to see it. There's a limit on my patience with puke-inducing fake white man's burden shit.

I actually loved Avatar. Sure it was cheesy and bioluminesense is a "cheap" design, but it was fucking gorgeous. The Na'vi were the most believable CGI I have ever seen.

Apparently because the planet is "alive" it's going to develop a virus to keep humans away forever, but they never explain this in the film, just in the really shitty first version of the script.

All aliens look like bipedal humans because if they looked like this it would be awesome mcdonald's couldn't make toys out of it.
