I neglected to comment on the original post, but I really enjoyed this. A lot. I think you had all the voices down and I always love a crossover that seems like it shouldn't work but it does anyway.

Aww, yay! Thank you! It is kind of a weird crossover-- the two idioms don't cross much. River is a good point of intersection for anything really, though. And I'm glad the voices work for you, this one really lives or dies on the narrative.

That was very good. One thing to have in mind if you do write a sequel is that 500 years doesn't seem to be a very implausible lifespan for a wizard in the Dresden books. The head of the wardens was born in what, the 17th century? And is still kicking ass hard enough that being transferred into a younger body actually throws her off her game. Assuming that the White Council figured out a way off Earth without using spaceships, Harry could still be around.
