>I think this might be why I do still like teen-based shows (like Teen Wolf) even now that I'm not a teenager -- because those generally have to be about change and growth, almost by default, and I find characters much more interesting than plots<
The big thing that excites me about this show is that it is, explicitly, about two characters who are going to change each other.
I've never thought of it that way before but that is exactly why I've been losing interest in Doctor Who since Moffat took over. The reason the first season of the show will always be my favourite is because all of the main characters (Nine, Rose, Jack) helped each other to become better people through the course of a short 13 episodes. Even more disappointing to me is that Moffat has shown that he can write this kind of character development (Blink, Coupling, Press Gang) when he's not to busy trying to show everyone how clever he is.
Yeah, that was my Moffat-concern and one of the reasons that I stopped watching the show when I did. It just seemed like Moffat prefers characters to be puppets rather than people.

Yeah, there's a lot of growth and change in S1. And it's the series that's most tightly-written out of them all, I think. S2 is probably still my favorite because of how happy Rose & the Doctor are for most of the season, but it's got some bumps in there.
