Vimeo: FYI, they're deleting stuff right now

Vimeo appears to have straight-up deleted my account (without giving me any notice at all -- I only found out because someone commented on RYH at AO3 and mentioned that video stream wasn't there anymore), so none of the vids that I uploaded to there are still there. So, that sucks ( Read more... )

Vimeo was always a risk for deleting accounts - it's why people started password protecting, although obviously it's not complete protection. Kiki Miserychic had her account, deleted - I think someone actually reported her to Vimeo or something?

Anyway, you can try blip? Not great - they'll also delete if they catch you - but it's a possibility.

Yeah, I was doing the password protection but, ah, nope.

It would have been nice if they'd sent a notice about it. YouTube always tells me when they're blocking music/taking something down.

I will check it out. Thank you.

You can upload videos to Photobucket, but I'm not sure of the length allowed, or if they patrol content. I know they delete objectionable (to them) photos, so they probably do the same with videos.

I've never actually tried out photobucket -- are they free or do you need to pay for an account?

Photobucket has paid accounts, but also free ones, which is what I have and use for photos. What's nice about them is even the free accounts now have unlimited storage, which wasn't the case in the beginning. You could give them a try.

Very low-quality, usually, but you can post videos to tumblr...

(a little amused, also, because I read this post, and then about 2 posts down on my flist was the person who told you this vid was down, reccing it :D)

Not just embedding but actual hosting? I had no idea tumblr could do that.

Am being edged closer and closer to actually signing up for tumblr. lol

Yes, although the quality, as I said, isn't great, and I don't know if you can embed elsewhere--but at least it would be streaming.

:D
