Avengers: my brain is stuck (I don't mind)

My vacation went really well. I have so much media to catch up on; can't watch any of it on my phone. And with my premieres vid done, I finally feel like I can watch Avengers vids. No more worry about bleed-over.

Speaking of Avengers, I have so many thoughts rolling around ( Read more... )

*grin* I think you can probably make a case that almost any combination of characters in Avengers would make an interesting pairing. (The one that's called to my slasher heart is Bruce/Tony but that doesn't mean I don't see others, slash and not). (Though that being said, I'm not sure I get Clint/Coulson either)

How you can tell it's a Joss Whedon story: it's all Bring Your Own Subtext, just like Buffy was. :D

Joss is great at leaving the subtextual options open, for sure.

The Bruce/Tony interaction was such a fantastic surprise. Wonderful chemistry, sparkling dialogue, and I love how the Hulk is so obviously still Bruce in his reactions to people, which adds a lovely element to the Hulk saving Tony.

A) OMFG PLEASE DO WRITE THIS! I WOULD DEFINITELY READ! I ship this so hard just because they are my two favorites and there are really no fics for them.

B) Me neither, me neither.

C) This would be amazing to read!

A) THIS IS GOOD TO HEAR. There really are zero! Sometimes, they have a bit of sex as part of a team orgy fic or a fic where one of them sleeps their way through the entire team, but that's about it.

B) I suspect that some of the Clint/Coulson fandom happened because of the gap between Thor and Avengers.

The same thing also happened with Natasha and Pepper being BFFs/liaison, I think, which I saw in a lot of fic that was written before Avengers came out and which puzzled me. So when Avengers gave Coulson that role instead, I was all, "Yes, makes more sense. Natasha is a field agent, not a liaison or a manager."

C) ♥

Yeah, I generally have a hard time getting on board with employer/employee. There are a couple of pairings that I still ship in spite of them being employer/employee, but I'd be happier if they weren't. IDK, I think a lot of it is because I dislike huge power imbalances in relationships, but I also dislike constant ignoring of an established hierarchy for the sake of romance (if the hierarchy sucks, I feel like it should be dismantled or ignored for its own sake. Ignoring it solely for love makes me twitchy).
