I have great difficulty with both Baltar and Adama. Baltar, because he is so egotistical and has to constantly rewrite reality so he is not guilty and not wrong(I mean, seriously, why else the realization that we are ALL PERFECT. Sure, Baltar. Whatever). Adama is hard because he just doesn't get it, that he screws things up mightily sometimes. The only way in which he acknowledges any weakness is by being arrogant and guilting himself for his kids' deaths, because he can control everything, you know. Otherwise, he never questions himself, ever.

On the other hand...at this point, I'm not sure there are many viable options but the Roslin-Adama benevolent(ish) dictatorship, with occasional restraint provided by Adama Jr. I like to think democracy could chug along, unsullied, but four years post-apocalypse, when people are still dying and there's no end in sight and supplies are short, the ships are falling apart, they have to ally with the Cylons to survive...I don't know.
