Ooo. Thanks. Wait... what's happening next Friday then? Because this episode was the eleventh episode and if they're doing 12 on Friday, then are they not doing anything on the 28th?
I adore the Gwen/Jack/Ianto dynamic so much. I do to. I think I might like it more than the Doctor/Jack/Rose one. Though that could be lack of new canon speaking.
And I heard a little bird say that the new season of Doctor Who might be starting up on April 5th. I hope so.
Now see when I get Ten, Rose and Jack together again then my mood may change. Because I totally need closure/development with bad wolf/time wars and the three of them are part of it and I'm sure the show will give it to me.
But right now I really want lots of Jack, Ianto and Gwen.
Of course, it's Jack, so we don't really have to choose. That's what I love best about him.
AND LIKE IN THIS VERY EPISODE WHEN GWEN WAS TALKING ABOUT KNOWING WHERE THE PEOPLE YOU LOVE ARE WHEN THEY'RE GONE AND JACK JUST LOOKING AWAY HURT REALLY GOOD.

Yes! I'm looking forward to that! This show delivers on its emotional promises.

Squee! Yes. I have so much Jack, Ianto, and Gwen love. I need to find (or make) an OT3 icon for them, because the love is very strong.

I immediately thought of "Utopia" and him saying, "I have to ask..." Because Jack knows what it's like to suspect someone's dead but hope that they aren't and... yes. He loves his Rose very much and his Doctor and his Ianto and Gwen (and Tosh and Owen and...).
God, me, too. I loved that scene where Gwen wants to pursue the missing persons cases and Jack is immovable and Ianto goes to bat for Gwen. I wish to god there were more Ianto&Gwen fics out there as well. I love them to pieces.
They are so wonderful together! I could watch an entire episode with just the two of them talking about Jack! It would be brilliant! That scene was so fantastic. Ianto playing both sides -- lovely! Jack being all casual with his nudity (as he is!). Gwen being embarrassed and then determined and very hot!
I've always loved Gwen and have never understood the hate for her that seems to run through the fandom - so it's nice to see someone else sharing the appreciation. I love that she makes mistakes. How boring would it have been if she'd been completely perfect all the time? She's always felt so real to me, and I love how Eve Myles plays her. That woman does emotion so well she's moved me to tears watching her more than once.
I hope April 5th is going to be the air date for new Doctor Who. Catherine Tate's going to be on Jonathan Ross on the 4th, so I've read, so the evening after such a big promo event would be a good time to air the season opener.
People hating Gwen (especially if they do this while loving Owen and Jack) is so bizarre to me -- oh, she's a strong female character who makes mistakes. Clearly, this makes her the spawn of Satan who must be spit upon and despised by all right-thinking viewers. There's so little logic in the hate, as they tend to hate her for both a) being a 'Mary Sue' and b) being an incredible fuck-up. It is impossible for her to be these two things at the same time, just by definition.
Seriously, 'Mary Sue' is just a codeword for 'female character the lead male is attracted to' (with the implied message of 'how dare she pretend that he's attracted to her' -- because it's always her fault and she's delusional anyway, of course. *rolls eyes*) these days. If it ever had real value as a term, it's lost it by now.
I'm sick of the Mary Sue label being thrown about. If Gwen's a Mary Sue, so is Rose, so is Martha...and Jack is probably one of the most blatant Sue's any fandom's ever seen. Yet they don't get hated on. But Gwen, for some reason, is possibly one of the most frequently bashed characters ever.
What really annoys me though is when people act like Jack or Ianto have a problem with her. They don't. Jack, generally, respects her a lot. Ianto considers her a friend - something that's been heavily touched on in series two especially. They like her, and it's something a lot of Jack/Ianto shippers need to grow up and deal with because this whole idea that they don't have any respect or time for her spoils a lot of fics.

It's so frustrating. Yes, she screws up, but she hasn't screwed up worse than anyone else at Torchwood, so there's no reason why people should hate her while loving Owen, Ianto, Tosh and Jack.

Indeed. It's pretty clear that both the guys are very fond of her. I actually haven't read any J/I fic (despite finding them hot) for precisely this reason -- I see enough demonizing of Gwen in meta and around fandom; I don't need to see it in fiction.

Hmm.
*wonders about Jack/Rose/Tenth Doctor chemistry*
Gwen/Jack/Ianto are so shiny and new! Of course, it's Jack, so we don't really have to choose.
