Buffy is one of those characters that I pretty much adored from the first moment that I laid eyes on her. It was the summer of '97, the first season of BtVS was in reruns and I saw The Pack. I fell in love with her, this tough and caring girl ( Read more... )

Oh, yay! I completely forgot you were going to do this, and here we are in November!

Anyway, hooray for Buffy... I love all the moments you picked, and I think I need to go home and watch Anne because it's been way too long since I've seen it.

I remember a lot of people going, "meh" about Anne when it first aired, but there's a whole lot of really good character work in the episode and some great symbolism. Definitely an episode that, for me, has gotten better with time.

Great moments from a character I love too. Buffy will always have a special place in my heart, because she struggled, and failed, and kept on going until, in the end, she succeeded.
The scene from Anne is possibly one of my most favourite moments.
Great post.

Indeed -- no matter how many times she fell down, Buffy kept getting up. I love her.

Well said.

I always tear up at that moment in Anne, and I think I've watched Showtime about a thousand times. I love Buffy's speeches, but I especially love that moment right before the speech when everything crystalizes in her mind, and that spark that is Buffy really shows. That's the spark we see when she gets up and goes after the Master, and when she gets back up in Chosen, and in so many great moments in between.

Yes! SMG was so good at capturing those moments of inspiration -- you could see when those thoughts occured to her and what made her think of it. You could see her realizing herself. I give SMG so much credit for what made Buffy great. Joss (mostly) did such a good job finding the right people for his characters.
