Lovely. I like the dynamic between River and Mal here. They understand each other, and have even gotten fond of each other. And I can see this conversation happening. Simon may never love Serenity as much as the others do, and that would bother Kaylee, as Serenity is her best friend.

And yeah, Simon has certainly come to care about the people of Serenity, but the ship itself will probably not ever be his best friend.
