benedikt xvi (ratzinger) was a hitler youth. look up photos ("pope ratzinger") on google, he's hella scary looking. he's a lot MORE conservative than john paul ii, karol wojtyla, who was indeed a man of peace, if of a bit of intolerance as well.

I saw that he was a member of the Hitler Youth, but, to be fair, that was compulsory at the time, and reportedly his family was opposed to Hitler and the war, so that isn't really a factor. And he is an arch-conservative, which is a shame, but I don't think it would go any other way. I did read though that he was strongly against other religions and religious dialog in general, though I don't remember where I read that, which is not a good thing.
