OMG. Cassie needs Tabby. When people have known you forever and ever they have certain expectations of you -- subconsciously even -- that can get in the way, esp. when things are tense. Cassie feels like Tabby knows and accepts who she is NOW. She feels comfortable opening up to her, which is big. She really is her Spice Sista, someone who is fun and quirky and adds something special to life, and is family of a different sort.
I think that's exactly why Tabby needs Cassie, too. There isn't a link to the past, a past Tabby is very ashamed of even if she rarely shows it. Cassie never makes her feel stupid for saying what she feels and what she thinks. From the moment they met and later on shared scones XD they clicked for those reasons.
Cassie is thrilled to HAVE her new photographer friend. She would be all too easily pulled away from photography without people to 'talk shop' with and photography is good for her. Sally was friendly and cheerful at the party and Cassie looks forward to getting to know her better. She knows Tabby adores her, she knows Tim and Mia like her and she knows Bart is worried about her, but she wants to know Sally from Sally.
And then right after they met, Sally was attacked making Cassie's 'everyone around me dies' complex flare up :/ BUT once she recovers, Sally can help plan the party for Alfred.
Sally will love getting to know Cassie for Cassie as well! And she'd love to help plan the party for Alfred because he is obviously the best person in the world. Especially when making cookies. And they'll be at the same university so they could do lunches and stuff! :D
One of the nice things about being attacked at the mansion is your Omega power leveled healer friend can heal you when you're dying. It pays to know the right people!
Carol has it in her head, however erroneously, that everything he says is a judgment. And she is feeling low 80% of the time so it gets her back up, she snaps at him and then realizes that she's acting badly and basically judging herself and gets annoyed and kicks the cat (only not really). Which is all more about Carol than Alan but she's super self-centered our Carol.
She likes that he's from Boston, that he has his own value system and that he asks questions. He puts her on the defensive pretty easily. She wants him to like and/or approve of her.
Alan likes Lorna better than he did, too! Progress.
Yeah, he was pretty dumbfounded by her reaction to his anti-vampire rant. He's...I don't know, if you're talking about things in the abstract he's very open-minded. I'd say the only things he'd pass judgment on immediately are killing/severely injuring other people, mistreating kids, and being disloyal to one's friends.
Well, that and he's always ready to pass judgment on someone's intelligence.
Carol's been prickly lately and esp. with people who got to know her when she was actively trying to make friends before her life went crazy. She's scared, not really so deep down.
Aws. Jack is the first person Carol connected with after she decided she needed to find friends outside of her work. They have things in common and she likes their comfortable chatter. After her whole life sort of exploded on her, the shields she'd started to let down went back up with a vengeance so she's tentative and/or defensive around most people and she misses when it felt easier to talk to her salamander.

I'm very, very glad they're Spice Sistas.

Yay for lunches and stuff! And that's the theme of the party: Alfred is the best person in the world.
