((From here.))

Just to hear someone else say her name pisses you off.

[tenses]

You think it's just the name?

Isn't it? I'm talking about the mythological Lilith, from thousands of years before your Lilith was born.

I know who she was, I don't need your exposition. What's your point?

Why do you care? It should be a relief to talk about characters in old books instead of about you and your family.

It's not something you'd decide to discuss with me arbitrarily.

I'm a writer, I like mythology, and you happen to be a priest. The Bible is mythology as far as I'm concerned. There's nothing odd about wanting to discuss it with you. Granted, Lilith is pretty much nonexistent in the "official" versions of the Bible, but that doesn't make the figure and what it represents any less important.

Alternatively we could go into the different interpretations of Cain's murder of Abel.

I'm not toying with you. They're names in a book.

[finally turns to face him again]

And you know things are different for me. What do you think you're trying to prove?

but_a_wolf August 20 2007, 00:49:43 UTC
I told you I'm not trying to prove anything... in one version God asks them to sacrifice what they value the most, Cain sacrifices Abel.
