Bushwalker Who?

Sorry I’ve been a bit scarce of late. B works from home these days in the study and though we have several computers, I haven’t fallen back into the habit of daily blogging… albeit hen pecking with one hand while Dahlia sleeps on the other. I’ve composed so much stuff in my head so I suppose all you’ll get is the condensed version of our news ( Read more... )

mortality, new house, new garden, kids

Jeez woman! Well I hope 2007 is the healthiest and safest year for you and yours yet!

Congrats on the house. We moved into ours six years ago last month and we're still doing things, slowly buying what we like.

Well especially when we're talking garden, that does entail long term vision. But I'm more looking forward to the house as a venue for dinner parties, BBQs and the like. We had Christmas at our house this year and it's good to have the space to entertain comfortably.

As the year comes to an end it inevitably speeds up and becomes filled with more and more - and your year certainly has had its share of drama! Great to hear from you, perhaps you can afford a little time to sit back in your new chaise lounge and relax once the boys are at school/kinder? Or perhaps grab a little girl time with Dahlia? :)

The chaise lounge is really a great idea. I can lie stretched out and still not deprive others of their sitting space! :o) I do intend for this to be the year of small, small things. Building lego, making food, blogging quilting, socialising, upping the green ante... it might not leave heaps of time for the chaise!

I like that: "the year of small, small things"...

I am about to embark on my first bed quilt soon (for Sophie's bed), which doesn't quite fit the "small, small" category compared to quilts I've done in the past. I have a pattern that I will tweak a little as I go block by block to break it down into manageable sized chunks. Do you have any favourite shops from which you buy fabric? I've heard there's quite a good shop in Sebastopol...

I often end up at the local Spotlight but not very often these days as it is not a kid wrangling friendly environment. I like picking up stuff from quilting expos and have lots of calico that I'm planning on dying one of these days... I must visit that shop at Sebastapol.

I have really focussedthus far on baby quilts and table runners which are more easily managed but I am thinking of doing a quilt for single bed for Kahlil and also a throw quilt for our couch. I was worried about the technicality of quilting but now think that machine quilting on the outside and hand quilting on the inside might be the way to go.

Nice to catch up on the bushwalker household news. Sorry to hear there was yet more agony in 2006, hoping 2007 is better all round! So when are we going to see some more piccies of the family and home? I need to see what's going on since I can't visit and inspect this wonderful new interior decorating right now!

Yes we must both agree to more pics! I should take one of Hamish walking in his plaster. Toddlers aren't given crutches and are left to crawl and pram around or be carried. He's stood on it several times and now walks which hopefully indicates the major healing has been done.
