The MinnPost listed this address in an article recently where they said "He even said there's the public to advise him: People can send their thoughts on what should be cut to budgetideas@state.mn.us." So I did. Here's what I just sent to the address in question ( Read more... )

I was pretty stress yesterday after hearing about the whole cutting health insurance business. I feel angry actually. There are people who REALLY NEED IT. And when I complained about MN high taxes, at least I knew it was going towards good things, like health insurance. It sounds like we are now going into a deeper hole. I am mad because there is almost next to nothing we can do about it. I should write to the governor. I want to protest! I want to march, lobby, be more educated on this issue. But really, I just want to cry too. I can't listen to NPR anymore. I just get to MAD. It is time to change the whole Health Care System it needs overhauling, not just insurance part of it.

Summer was telling me about how WCCO did a story about how EASY it is to apply for assistance and get health care from the state. They "applied" and the whole process took about 5 minutes.
Of course they drove to CROW WING county instead of broadcasting the mess that is the red-tape covered Hennipen County system. (Not that people in Crow Wing county don't need help as much or more as people here, but that was an unfair depiction. And my friend is struggling, fighting with the county to get basic healthcare for her two little boys.)

I love how the conservatives bitch and whine about how we can't raise income taxes because of the horrible burden on the wealthy and those who still have jobs...but have no issue at all with the burden of reduced health and welfare services onto the poorest and most vulnerable people in our society.
