One-line Excerpt: He's fourteen the first time it happens
He's fourteen the first time that it happens. He wakes up feeling hot; sweat sticking to him like a second skin and....his bed is wet.
But there's no way that he wet the bed.
The last time Dan did that he had been twelve and Vanessa had triple dog dared him into abstaining from peeing for the whole day (And of course he couldn't say no, it's blasphemous). He had made it all the way to six in the evening and was certain that he was going to make the whole day but Vanessa had decided that she wanted to have a tickle fight and he just lost it.
She poked him once. Twice. And he was down for the count, pants wet and totally red in the face. Vanessa laughed so hard that she ended up falling off the bed and he couldn't look her straight in the eyes for two days.
This is definitely not like that.
There's no sour smell in the air but his sweatpants are sticking to him in that uncomfortable way clothing is wont to do when liquid meets it. And it's hot, really hot with a pungent odor that isn't unpleasant but definitely noticeable.
That's when it hits him like one of Jenny's hardheaded plastic Barbie dolls that she used to throw at his head when he didn't let her have her way. The entirety of 8th grade health class comes flooding back and the voice of old Mrs. Crowley comes to the forefront of his mind.
Boys and girls this is nothing to giggle about. Your bodies are in a period of change and its going to make you have weird feelings, feelings that you probably aren't going to understand for a long while. Also certain physical reactions might occur when you find somebody attractive, boys I'm mainly speaking to you since the reaction that you give is quite visible.
Now, boys, when you find a girl physically appealing ,or there is sufficient stimuli, you get an erection. It's nothing to be embarrassed about it's quite natural. To relieve it you can do one of three things:
1) Have sex, which I strongly suggest that you do not at such a young age. It is a very big emotional step and one I do not think your age group is capable of making or handling well
2) Masturbate, which is a form of self pleasure
3) Wait it out, though sometimes this doesn't work and choice 2 is the better option
Also at times you may experience some dreams that cause you to ejaculate in your sleep. If this happens don't be alarmed, it's normal.
The memory gets kind of foggy after that. All Dan can remember is Chuck saying something about fucking like bunnies and Mrs. Crowley's face turning an odd shade of purple but that's not the important part. The important part, he reminds himself with a shake of the head, is that he has just reached an embarrassing and yet monumental boyhood milestone.
The Wet Dream.
For all intents and purposes, it's kind of like another step closer to becoming a man because now his little swimmers aren't trapped in there anymore. Dan has the power to populate now and it's simultaneously thrilling as well as frightening. He doesn't plan on populating the planet anytime soon but it's still a rush.
Almost like the rush of blood through the valves of his heart at the sight of Serena and that smile of hers which, if anyone had any doubt, was what his dream had been about.
He had been sitting on his bed, as usual, with a book in his hand and Cedric sitting on a pillow next to him when she walked in. There was a blur of blonde hair and a beautiful breaking of lips that turned into a smile before he felt his back hit the mattress with a small thump. She had been whispering something that he can't quite remember now because his mind had been too focused on the feel of her hips pressed into his and the golden cascade of hair that kept brushing his cheek. There were kisses, lots and lots of kisses, and her sweet little giggle. Her hands had been everywhere, doing things that he had only seen once in that stupid Russian art house film that Vanessa had made him watch. It was wondrous and all consuming and she was bringing him closer and closer to the edge, calling his name.
And that's when he woke up.
Frustrated, he throws the covers off and pulls at them until they release the bed. He dumps them in the hamper and gets fresh sheets and pants. Never has he felt this wired, satisfied, and yet so irritated. The dream had been amazing. Serena had been amazing but waking up in his own sexual bi-product was not okay in his book. It was gross and made him feel weird.
With a sigh, Dan buries his head into his pillow and shuts his eyes. There, under his lids, is Serena beaming like the sun in nothing but a white bra set and just like that, as quick as a snap of fingers, he feels blood rush south. He punches his pillow and gets up, heading to the bathroom. Thank goodness he has one in his room, it's going to be a long night.
For not the first time in his angst-ridden teenage life, Dan curses being a boy.
