WORCESTER- A home invasion yesterday afternoon on Fairfax Road led to the shooting of a city man in front of two children, police said.
The man, described as being in his late 20s, was shot in the neck. He was taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center - Memorial Campus by UMass paramedics. The injuries suffered in the shooting appeared to be life-threatening, detectives said last night.
Police were called to the first floor of 73 Fairfax Road, about 1 p.m. to investigate a shooting. Police Capt. Edward J. McGinn, commander of the Detective Bureau, said the man was at home with two children when at least one man stormed the home in what appears to be a home invasion.
It was not clear if the two youngsters were the victim’s children.
Police were looking for at least two males in a white car with a spoiler that was described as the getaway car. They declined last night to give a motive for the shooting.
