Yeah. I still check Craigslist for all the neat places I missed out on. Much like reading through the Ikea catalogue, this is merely an exercise in masochism. (And a tiny bit of "nyar!" at a few places that never returned my calls/emails and are now desperate to find a roommate. Ha!)

Yep, whole thing all over. Uncle Fucker apologized when he gave me the news, but I told him that it was the best I had expected. I never thought that New Boss would be willing to post the position internal-candidates only, and there was no way there wouldn't be some kind of competitive process at all. I was just worried that maybe for some reason they wouldn't post it at the II level.

I have been bravely not looking at Craigslist, but I know someone who just moved into a huge one-bedroom for a ton less than what I'll be paying, and it's made me doubt. I remind myself that this huge one-bedroom also has carpeting (a deal-breaker), no central air or heating (huge deal-breaker), and shitty management. But I still wonder if maybe I signed too soon.

Oh, and sorry for not getting back to you sooner - I think I'm fine on packing materials. Thanks!
