One of the trees in my front yard split while I was out yesterday - presumably in the big storm in the evening. Half of it is lying across my roof (and, from the inside, doesn't appear to have caused any significant damage) and will definitely have to be removed, and I'm pretty sure that the rest of the tree will have to go too. My parents called Davey Tree when they had to get a tree removed after the last storm a few months ago.
Looking online (they have a website: davey.com) the number appears to be ph: 613-831-0225
My dad considered them "ok". He thought they got the job done reasonably, he just found them a little inefficient.

And by inefficient:
The "there is a large honking tree lying across my neighbours roof" got removed promptly, but the large mess of roots on the ground afterwards on the side of the driveway I think it took them about a week to finish clearing that up.

Make sure whoever you use is insured though. (Not that I suspect I need to mention that...but....) The last thing you need is for them to send it through your roof in the process and *not* have it covered.

The tree is split approximately in half, for a length of nearly 2 metres and down to about 2m from ground level. I'm not very hopeful that it can be saved, much though I'd like to keep it.

You might also get the arborist to trim back any other tree branches close to the house at the same time, to avoid this happening again.
