Neutered rabbit won't eat

My Moonbeam was neutered today. We got him home around 3 PM, it's now 7:15 PM and he still hasn't eaten anything aside from a few strips of paper from his litter tray. He has drank water from his bowl. I've tried his mixed grains, carrot, hay, and his baby pellets, all to no avail. Does he like oatmeal? Or maybe you could get some critical care and syringe feed it to him? Or unflavored pedialyte. Or really good smelling baby food (like apple blueberry!) Celery is usually a bad idea, too much water in it.

Try tempting him with some banana or his favourite veg. At least he is drinking, but whatever you can do to get some food into him.

Did the vet give you pain meds? If so you might want to give him another dose. Bunnies don't like to eat when in pain.

If that doesn't work you should think about force feeding. You need a big syringe (50ml-ish). You can wet and mush up pellets with banana or other fav mushy fruit. Put it into the syringe and then force the food into his mouth. You can get it in pretty easily by putting the syringe into the side of his mouth behind the front teeth. They have a space there and they will chew and swallow when food is in their mouth.

Good luck! I hope he feels better!

Do you have anything soft, fruit or leafy greens? Some bunnies have sore jaws after anesthesia.

When one of my rabbits had to have her tooth clipped under anaesthetic the vet suggested mixing pellets with some water to get her to eat, because it makes them kind of squishy and easier to eat than normal pellets. I hope he feels better soon!
