MY BUNNY IS CHEWING MY APARTMENT OUT OF CARPET!
She knows what she's doing is wrong, yet she persists!
She hides in corners and thinks I can't hear her chewing!
She crawls under blankets and chews. When I lift up the blanket after she's left, I find a pile of carpet fibers!
I tell her "No!" and she stops and stares at me, but as soon as I stop ( Read more... )

These are all solutions I've employed:

1. Put something over spots to take her attention (ex: wicker baskets/balls).
2. Rub the area with white vinegar so she won't want to go near it.
3. The last resort: keep her in a pen and put down 'flooring' (cheap tiles or a rubber mat or something to that degree).

You can also try thumping, as that is rabbit speak for "I don't like that!". If she pays enough attention you can take it further and turn your back to her, which is "SCREW YOU, I REALLY DON'T LIKE THAT."

sadly the vinegar bit doesn't work on mine :( we've restored to penning them in large pens with extra rug on top

Mine responds well to thumping on the floor and vinegar as well. Don't spray the vinegar AT her, just NEAR her... like on the floor she is nomming.

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried thumping, I hit the ground with my hand and it gets her attention, but she's a rebel and she keeps on doing it. I absolutely despise the smell of vinegar, so I think I would be more turned off than my Miffy would be u_u

Keep in mind her nose is probably more sensitive than yours (especially shoved into the carpet) so if the smell bothers you, try diluting with some water. Or use lemon juice instead, if that scent is more palatable.

Oh, bless. In my old place, Hayden went into the closet and shredded the carpet to bits. Starting out, thumping resolved the issue. Eventually, he learned the word 'no'. So now, all I have to do is say "no" and he knows to stop what he's doing.

I will keep trying the thumping and the word "No." she has to give up some time :3

Sooty is terrible with the carpet. We are constantly thumping and shooing him away from areas. I have no advice, but can offer my empathy. Poor carpet
