I don't feel like she was wrong to address the issues, yes, she could have confronted them directly, but not everyone in those situation would feel comfortable.

Individuals should have avenues to address sexual harassment concerns and I do not think twitter is the best way to do so. I, too, agree that both companies were out of hand with how they address the situation.

I am not for condoning sexual harassment, but sometimes it's about education. And it did not seem like much was done short of firing both parties or preventing future incidences. Telling people not to put it on twitter, is not a way to address making the work place a safe place for everyone.

I agree but I would be surprised if a company of that size didn't have a sexual harassment policy and "how to handle the situation" policy in place already. I also suspect they would have sent out a reminder about the policy to their employees in light of this incident but I am guessing they just didn't write about it in the article.

I think that she really handled the situation poorly and unprofessionally. Like you said she could have gone to talk to HR or a Pycon official. As for the sexual joking its one of those things where despite the fact that its technically sexual harassment and not allowed, people who are comfortable with each other at work often do it (I've seen it a lot working at vet clinics). That being said those two men were at a conference and not their workplace so they should have been behaving professionally as well.
