a-ö meme

P was one of the first fics I wrote for this meme, whereas O just had to wait for ages while I battled with first Q, then the nordic exchange fic...and then Q AGAIN. Still not entirely happy with that, but I don't want to get stuck on it forever, so it'll have to do as is.Still, Opulent and Questions are kinda interesting because they ( Read more... )

These are really beautiful, SB. I didn't really get the meaning of the X-over piece beyond its superficial face, but the other two were wonderful character sketches.

Thank you. If I recall right...was trying to make some point about immigration away from a place, and how a...well, personified country might feel about it, but mostly it was just a random meeting fic, so no big loss. I'D

Glad you liked the other two though! ^__^

Okay, now I understand. That is a very intriguing story premise, actually. There was a period, shortly after the dissolution of the old Soviet Empire, when I ran into a lot of expat Hungarians, Romanians and Bulgarians who were looking for every chance they could get to leave their countries for good (and bring out their families.) Corruption was rampant and the social structures were very close to anarchy. There were all kinds of reasons why they wanted to leave. But it did seem as though the best and brightest couldn't wait to get away, which was sort of pitiful for the country and societies which they were trying to leave behind.

One of my friends who married an expat Hungarian said, "How can you blame them? These places are so depressed and stuck in these old destructive, suppressive patterns. It takes such enormous energy to accomplish the slightest things. How can anyone begrudge them?"

And I don't, really. I just see how it makes things even worse for the people who are left behind.

Despite the shortness, and the lack of...anything precisely pairing-y happening in the story...somehow I feel like a got a big part of why those two intrique as a pair into this fic.

I'm really glad you liked it too ♥

The Hakkai one was breathtaking. REally wonderful and insightful and an excellent analysis of a unique personality - fabulous use of language as well!!
(they were all good, but that was my favorite!)

Very good introspective pieces, both the first and last. Loved the Ken'yuu one, really, but the Hakkai bit, where he's describing Gojyo not throwing anything out... hehehe, too funny.

Gojyo is at peace with mess. As long as it doesn't bother him he'll let ity live it's own life. =3=
