Grieving is a process. It's not a goal or a destination. The every day pain lessens over time, but it can still pop up at any moment. Emotional pain is just like that.

Friends going through a tough battle and losing a pet brings back the loss of many critters I have been close to. I grieve with them.

Condolences: trust me, I know how you feel.

(I'm also a little miffed that in the year they revived the Best Fannish Cat Ditmar, they said it couldn't be awarded posthumously. I'm not saying Grey would have given a damn, but I think she deserved the honour.)

I don;t have pets, been there, done that, still hurts.

I'm sure there will come a time, when I'm ready to have pets again, but it may be a while
