People are always saying that if you just ignore something, it will go away. It certainly sounds good in theory, sort of a mind over matter thing that Billy can really get behind. Putting it into practice, of course, is another matter entirely, because, right now, no amount of ignoreignoreignore is making Teddy's determined attempts to disentangle his legs from Billy's any less determined.

Billy grumbles incoherently and presses his face more firmly against the smooth skin of Teddy's back. He is having none of it, so he ignores some more, trying to out-determine Teddy, who is now squirming slightly and wriggling a bit to get out from under Billy's arm.

Teddy stills, briefly, and remarks in an almost-offhand manner, "Billy, you do remember I have super-strength, right? By which I mean, if I actually tried to get up, for real, there would be absolutely nothing you could do about it other than practice your limpet impression."

Billy rubs his forehead against Teddy's shoulder-blade. He has no intention of even dignifying that with a response, other than possibly to burrow closer. Ignoring, remember? Only way to get Teddy to stop trying to get up. Comfy couch will be less comfy minus a Teddy.

Teddy lets out a little hitchy-sigh and Billy thinks for about three seconds that maybe this ignoring thing is working, but then Teddy rolls neatly within the circle of his arm, and he can tell by the feel of warm breath and the light touch of Teddy's nose that they are now face to face. Crap. He's going to have to open his eyes.

"Mmmmwha?" Billy says, slurry and unfocused and dangerously close to pouty. He crinkles his eyebrows a little and tries to glare, since the ignoring thing didn't turn out so hot and he'll be damned if he's going to pout. "Leemee'lone."

But it turns out that Teddy's just as cozy lying like this, except that their chests are now pressed together, so that's actually better, and Billy just doesn't have the energy for any more glaring. He shuts his eyes again and tries to burrow into Teddy's shoulder.

Teddy breathes a kiss just below Billy's ear. It's still not the going back to sleep Billy was aiming for, but as far as fall-back positions go, Billy's pretty okay with it.

"Billy," Teddy says, "We have to get up. You have to get up. It's already past your curfew." Billy snuffles a bit deeper into Teddy's neck. Teddy sighs. "Your parents are going to kill you. And then probably lecture me. I'd like to avoid both, honestly."

Billy tries to say If they're already going to kill me for being late, a little later won't make me any deader. Of course, what actually comes out is "Ifgnnkil'lillawomaderer."

Luckily, Teddy has a handy set of Billy-to-English filters.

"There is the possibility of you: not-dead and me: un-lectured, you do realize this," Teddy says. Billy steadfastly continues in his non-moving ways. Teddy tries again. "Up," he says, shrugging his body in an attempt to dislodge Billy, but Billy just clings tighter.

There is a long pause, in which the part of Billy's mind that isn't already back in the warm world of sleep thinks that he's won. That part is just starting to follow the rest of his mind into dreamland, and then Teddy has to go and ruin it by talking again.

"You've got a lot of powers, Billy," he says, "but mystical sleepy-boyfriend rays are not among them." Billy can feel the laugh in Teddy's voice and Teddy's chest, and, frankly, it's not doing much to convince him that he wants to be anywhere but right where he is.

"Billy, come on," Teddy is saying, but Billy really only cares about the rumble in his chest. "Your parents really will freak. Your mom alone will have an entire litter of kittens."

That does get Billy's attention, and he blinks slowly, looking hazily at Teddy with his eyebrows raised.

"Oh, you know what I mean," Teddy says.

Billy blinks again, and shakes his head to clear it a little. Teddy is obviously not going to let him get out of this without a good reason, and since he apparently does not actually have boyfriend-sleeping powers, he's going to have to try and come up with one.

" 'lljus--" Billy breaks off, clears his throat. "I'll just tell 'em-- tell them we had to fight Swarm or something." He pulls Teddy a little closer and goes to settle back into the smooth comfort of Teddy's neck.

"Swarm?"

"Mmm," Billy says, closing his eyes. "You know. Super-nazi made of bees. I'll say he was, I dunno, attacking an elementary school or something."

Teddy hums, and Billy knows he's being mocked even before Teddy says anything. "Swarm. Attacking an elementary school. At two in the morning. Know what? Somehow, I don't think they'll believe you." Billy pinches at his ribs. "Shocking."

Billy huffs. "You are kind of ruining this, Teddy."

Teddy nips at his ear. "That's kind of the point, Billy. Come on. Up."

Billy tries one last time to make Teddy's annoyances (not Teddy himself, just his fiddling) go away through the power of ignoring them all, only to fail spectacularly when Teddy brushes his fingertips across Billy's stomach, just above his hip-bone. Billy bolts upright, letting out something that does not in any way resemble a squeal. His only comfort is that he manages to knock Teddy off the couch in the process. He glowers down at him.

"That was dirty pool," Billy says.

Teddy looks up at him, laughter glinting in his eyes. "What, you'd rather I picked you up and carried you? 'Cause that's what it was going to come to."

"Yes," Billy says, and he is innordinately proud of himself for the fact that he doesn't cross his arms like a sullen child.

"All right," Teddy says, gliding smoothly to his feet, and Billy has to stop him with a hand on his shoulder when he leans in.

"Fine. Fine! I'm up." Billy yawns, hugely, and stretches his arms high above his head. Several vertebrae pop and he sighs while Teddy winces. He rubs a hand over his eyes. "Times'it, anyway?"

"Almost three, now." Teddy hands him his pants and he stutters to his feet, hopping awkwardly to get his feet through the legs.

Billy's buttoned up and looking for his shirt when he hears a soft, "hey" behind him. He starts to turn, then Teddy is kissing him, deep, almost with enough force to send them both toppling back onto the couch.

Billy wouldn't really mind that.

But then Teddy pulls back, runs a thumb along Billy's eyebrow. It's dark, but Billy can still see Teddy blushing a little. "It's not that I want you to leave," Teddy says.

"I know," Billy says, hooking a finger in Teddy's waistband.

"I just want you to be able to come back."

"I know," Billy says, and tugs Teddy in for another quick kiss. This time when Billy pulls away, Teddy curls his hands around Billy's hips with a careful smile. Billy's heart gives a stupid, skippy beat, like it always does when Teddy looks that, and he speaks before he realizes what he's going to say.

"You can come back with me, if you want."

Teddy looks like he wants to grin, but his eyes are still shadowy, like he wants something but doesn't think that he should want it.

Billy pinches him in the ribs again. "Come on. Better than staying here, right?"

Teddy glances away from Billy, tenses for a moment, then looks back. "If your parents catch us..."

"If," Billy points out and grabs up their sweatshirts. He turns back to Teddy, and his eyes are already glowing. "Well, we'll just have to make sure they don't."
