A Brief Excursion.

We went to town for the first time since the Before Times, wandered around the park with the hounds, then went and found a cafe that was doing socially-distanced takeaway-with-tables. Felt slightly guilty afterwards because it seemed so wasteful to have all those bags and boxes for one meal. It was all paper / compostibles, though the environmental ( Read more... )

I went out into the real world today for the first time since March 13. Only on foot so my sampling of what it looks like is very small (deep in the heart of Brooklyn--high population density but neighborhood types only--not a place that draws from the entire city). Most small stores that have been allowed to open seem to have survived. Only take out food because this was never a sidewalk cafe kind of neighborhood. Only saw one guy without a mask and he was parking his bicycle outside of the pharmacy and had one dangling around his neck. I don't blame him for not wearing it because I had trouble breathing through my mask hoofing all the way to the pharmacy wearing it. There was no one in the pharmacy except employees. Glad it wasn't hot. I wore food preparation/serving gloves (ha!) and my hands were sweating by the time I got home. Car and foot traffic is still very light around here although we are well into the second phase of opening back up. (It worse in this neighborhood a month ago--I think people are scared of what is happening ( ... )
