Random Mine of the Day : Flashman's Column

Since I was posting about arsenic yesterday, I thought I'd continue the theme with Greenhill Arsenic Works, the stack of which is known locally as Flashman's Column (fnar fnar). (The Fnar is compulsory, of course.)

It all sounds (and looks) mildly like a small version of Saruman's activities in Isengard.

It's very Sarumanic.

Thankfully, our local ents have done an excellent job on the place in the last 70-odd years, and the wild trees have come back to us!
