I tend to think about having telekinesis and, when people try to run me down or ride their motorbikes around our local fragile ancient woodland, and send them crashing into trees and lamposts.
I think there's a sliding scale of wrongness. Repeatedly fantasising about stabbing your neighbour or slaughtering your colleagues with a gun is wronger because it's doable. Occasionally imagining creative and magical fates for people who annoy you is less wrong since it can never be confused with reality.
However, any "smiting" that I imagine is very tame, and involves mild humiliation, public admitting of guilt, or sharp slaps delivered by an invisible hand whenever they're bad. My paladins would despair of me.

Also they now chant "Kal-i-mar! Kal-i-mar!" I can't help but feel this also reflects poorly their morality :-)
