Shaggy dog story

Kaya the Oldies Club foster lurcher has landed.  She is supposedly 14 years old* and needs a new home because her owners have toddlers. So far she has behaved impeccably with both cats and dogs and seems like a very nice dog (if somewhat in need of a trim).   Mollydog, however, is terribly miffed, and is throwing a serious sulk.

I like the picture in which Philmophlegm is trying to smite New Dog with his steely gaze, and new dog effortlessly rolls a resist.

As a non doggy person, I am confused by lurchers. No two lurchers seem to be remotely the same.

Lurchers are like pies. Pies can be many different sizes, flavours and consistencies, and can be eaten either as a savory or a pudding. People have their own flavours and preferred approaches to making them. But they are all pies.

Kaya is probably rather an authentic lurcher, if you believe the story that lurchers were designed to circumvent Norman Forest law, by hiding a sleek greyhound-like hunting physique under a shaggy collie coat.

But sometimes pies are tarts and sometimes pies are flans and sometimes pies are just confuseling. Like dogs...

She's always like this with new dogs -specially bitches- for a few days : huge puffing drama-filled sighs and resentful faces. If a greyhound could pout, she would!

Then she comes round and starts playing neck-nibbling games and is all confused when they go home.
