This large hairy dog's owner had a very serious accident and was rushed into hospital.  Nobody was able to care for the dog, so the local dog warden took him into the local pound kennels, where the  council confirmed they would not pay for his kennelling fees (nor could/would the owner)  and asked the pound to have him put to sleep.

Either that dog is really affectionate, or just has a taste for human skin, or both. I hope he finds a home, and that he gets on with your two in the meantime.

Given the size of the animal, I really hope it's not the latter, and I think I'm wary of the former...

The kennels tell me he is very affectionate, if at the moment, somewhat bouncy as he has had several weeks in a kennel with very little exercise.

I am sure he will have help with the exercise once he gets down to your neck of the woods...

Oh, he's gorgeous. Glad he's safe, and good for the pound. What a horrible situation - is there no possibility the owner will be able to have him back once they're better, or is it more a case of won't than can't?

It's always a *bit* of a gamble, but I feel that since Duke, I am a bit better prepared for the arrival of another huge lurcher!

Lovely dog!

I'm definitely not a dog person, and I'm not a bloodsports person, as I've probably said before, but... I do like hounds. Greyhounds, foxhounds, beagles, lurchers. Mean hunter killer dogs, like Stealth Bombers, but dog-shaped.
