I definitely recorded Az's insurance premium as £205 in a recent post, and I would have bet my socks that I had that right, and had paid for it in one go by credit card.  I just got the paperwork, which says the premium is just £180, and enclosed a direct debit form.  Boggle.  I rang them to check they had the right dog, they say they do, so I've

Given the horrific medical problems (with commensurately horrific vet bills) associated with pedigree dogs, I'm not at all surprised. I certainly have to pay more for my fluffies and they are from one of the healthiest breeds around.

Greyhounds are also supposed to be relatively healthy as breeds go, so I was a little surprised to discover that the risks are high enough to make up for a year's age difference. I suppose it demonstrates just how extreme their breeding for one purpose is.
