Pixel Peaks - Chapter Eight
I want to thank everyone for the huge response on my auditions post, I got so many wonderful sims now to put in my story and I hope and think I will be able to use at least one sim from everyone that wanted in. It might take a while before you see your sim in a Pixel Peaks update though, I hope you enjoy the story anyway!
Nathalie: There's Wren.
Nathalie: We'll be right with you, we're just gonna buy some coffee.
Wren watched them walk up to the counter. When did Nathalie start making new friends? She had always been very reserved, as long as Wren could remember she had never needed anyone else than just Beatrice and Wren. Why would she need that now?
At the counter Kana met them with her usual smile.
Kana: Hey sugar! Haven't seen you around lately. Hey, how did it go with that hot badboy at the Coffee Corner?
Nathalie: Oh.. that.. that wasn't what you think.. can we get two regular please?
Kana: Sure sweetie.
Allegra: There's a badboy?
Nathalie: It was nothing..
Kana: That'll be 6 simoleans.
Nathalie: Keep the change.
Allegra: You don't have to pay for my coffee..
Nathalie: Well, it's what friends do, isn't it?
Allegra: Yeah?
Nathalie: Yeah.
Leaving the counter, Nathalie turned around too fast, the coffee almost spilled out of her cup.
Oddy: Hey, watch we're you're going with that! That's hot stuff!
Nathalie: God I'm sorry, Oddy! I didn't see you..
Oddy: It's allright Nats. It's always a pleasure bumping into you! No matter how hot.
Nathalie: Oh.. okay.. good.
Allegra: You didn't tell me you had a thing with professor Roseland's nephew! You dirty little..
Nathalie: I d-dont!
Allegra: Oh come on, I had to duck to not get hit by the bolts flying between the two of you!
Nathalie: No! It's not like that! Oddy's with Wren!
Allegra: Shit, really?
Nathalie: Yeah..
Allegra: Shit, I'm sorry. I let my imagination run off with me sometimes. I'm really sorry..
Wren: It's okay..
Allegra: Way to make a good first impression..
Allegra muttered and Nathalie laughed nervously.
Nathalie: Uh, where's Bee?
Wren: She went back to the dorm. Apparently my immaturity is unbearable to be around.
Oddy: Hey babe!
Oddy threw himself down in the couch.
Wren: Hey.
His hand searched it's way over to Wren's thigh and their hands entwined.
Oddy: Did you guys hear about the guy who died in the park the other night? Apperantly his throat was completely slit open! Butchered!
Oddy: There's a rumour going around campus that we have a vampire here now!
Wren: What?! Who says that? That's riddiculous!
Allegra: Absolutely.
Allegra: It's so obviously a werewolf.
The party fell into silence and stared at her.
Allegra: What?
Allegra: Well it does sound like a werewolf. Vampires are usually very clean killers. They can drain a sim completely of their blood and just leave behind two tiny marks on the neck. Werewolves, however, are sloppy animals.
Oddy: What the hell guys! Where did you find this chick? She's priceless!
Allegra: Thanks! I think.
The voices of Nathalie's friends drifted away in a distance, as her thoughts went another way.

Bo knew exactly how many pines there were outside the window at the Pixel Peaks police station. He always stared at them when his theories about the werewolf came to a halt. Like the forest would give him some kind of answer..
Saga: I still don't approve of that you know.
The sheriff stood in the doorway with that sour look he had grown accustomed to.
He walked over to the desk and put his cigarette out on one of his research book.
Bo: There's gonna be a fullmoon tonight.
Saga sighed.
Saga: I know. Deputy Red will be out on patrol, I've told him to circle the town throughout the night.
Bo: Good. It's probably long gone but it'd be stupid to take the risk.
Saga: Yeah.
Saga: Here's the list of the Grand Log's visitors for the last month. It's mostly overnighters, travellers spending the night on their way to the lakes.
Bo skimmed the paper.
His eyes got stuck on a name just below his own.
Bo: What the..
Bo: That bastard.
Saga: What?
Saga: What is it?!
Bo: This doesn't concern you sheriff.
Saga: You've obviously forgotten that I'm on this case too now!
Bo: Then go do something useful! I'll deal with this.
Saga: Oh for the love of.. that man is going to be the end of my sanity.

Derek: Can you print a prescription for painnomore for Mrs. Ottomas and schedule a revisit for Brandon Lillard in about two weeks, to remove his plaster.
Stella: Of course doctor.
Stella: Mr. Goodie called and wanted you to look at his hip again. Should I find a spot for him this week? Dr. Lane?
Derek: Uh..
Dereks attention found itself elsewhere as he heard a familiar voice down the corridor.
Saga came walking along with Dr. Scott.
Derek: Let me get back to you on that one okay?
Saga: So there's been no injuries caused by animals coming in the last month?
Dr. Scott: Just Matthew Picaso, he was bitten by his neighbors terrier. Almost gnawed his leg off. The dog had to be put down.. terrible story..
Saga: Right.. you call me if anyone comes in then.
Derek: Saga?
Derek: What a surprise! What are you doing here?
Saga: Dr. Lane..
Derek: I think we're way past Dr. Lane and Sheriff Avenua don't you think?
Saga: Eh..
Saga had to look away from Dr. Scott's raised eyebrows. A few moments of silence passed.
Dr. Scott: Well.. I think I have some patients to get back to.
Saga: Yeah..
Derek: Have a good one doc!
Dr. Scott: Thank you..
Dr. Scott walked away and Saga grabbed Derek's arm.
Saga: May I have a word with you, Dr. Lane?
Derek: Uh, yeah..
She dragged him down the corridor.
Saga: What are you doing coming on like that?! I have enough rumours flying around me right now, I don't need to hear another one about me having some sort of a flirt with you!
Derek: I'm sorry I..
Derek: I didn't mean to spoil your good name..
Saga: Oh god.. no, no. I'm sorry. I'm not really mad at you. I just have a lot going on right now, I guess I'm a little stressed out.
Derek: Make it up to me?
She couldn't help but smile.
Saga: And how does one do that?
Derek: You buy me a drink, say after work? It appears you could use one too.
Saga: I think I can do that.

The dusk layed itself over the mountains and the fog rolled around Ludvig's legs.
How many times had he walked in this forest? He had spent every hour of daylight this week looking behind every clearing, walking over every hill, stumbling over branches.
Why couldn't he find it again? He had registred every turn, every tree in his memory, it should be here but it wasn't anymore. Like it had moved, or disappeared. But things like that didn't just get up and go.
The moon would soon rise. The fog made the perfect weather for a beast.
He had to turn back, empty handed.
And unaware that somebody was watching.

The fog was rolling in from the lake, not only wrapping in the forest but the whole town and the Grand Log hotel in white, chilly silence.
Bo walked in to the hotel lobby with determination.
Grayson: Good evening Mr. Bargeld. Catch any bad guys today?
Bo: Not yet.. Is there a Mr. Johnson staying at the hotel still?
Grayson: Indeed there is, sir.
Bo: Could I get his room number? He's an old friend of mine..
Grayson: Yes, sir.
Grayson: Let's see. Johnson, Johnson.. ah, here he is. He's staying in room number 312 but..
Grayson: I don't think he's in right now sir!
Bo trudged away in the hallway.
Grayson: Sir?
Bo took a quick look around the hallway to make sure he was alone.
Card locks like these were usually riddiculously easy to fiddle up.
As long as you knew how.
The door creaked as it slid open.
The room looked like it hadn't been lived in at all. The bed had of course been made by the hotel staff, but there was no bags, no clothes in there. Not a single strand of hair on the pillows. Bo wouldn't let himself be fooled by that fact though. He knew who he was dealing with here.
The desktop was clean, and he knew he'd be wasting his time trying to find anything in the drawer. There would be nothing, no notes, no information. No, there was only one thing to do here.
Wait.
