Over 20 cm of ice on the Müggelsee right now [Fixed link, Feb. 2011]. Apparently this is rather exceptional for this time of year. (Thank you, IGB.)

Not yet. This morning's reconnaissance showed one walker and not too much snow. It might get above freezing tomorrow, for the first time in days, but I think we'll manage to get out there soon.

And people wonder why the idea of "global warming" fails to find adherents amongst uneducated northerners...

Supposedly this winter is forecast to be a/the winter of a/the century. I have no idea of the basis for this prediction, or whether it only applies to the Berlin region, Germany, Europe or the solar system.
