I LIIIIVE!

Feb 17, 2010 20:26

So I've been reading through my LJ entries from right before I stopped posting two years ago. It's funny, because it reads like Dragon*Con killed my fandom love, LOL. Reality was that I started my senior year of college and I was CRAAAAZY busy for a year, got a boyfriend, and then a job. I still read (and even write!) fic on occasion, but it ( Read more... )

Life happened, LOL. But I really want to get back to LJ and the super-supportive writing communities here. I miss having people actively encourage me to pursue my bliss, hee! :)

How are you doing?

Yeah, I hear life sometimes happens to people... It hasn't quite happened to me yet, but I'm okay :)

Glad to have you back in LJ-land!

Hey! It's good to see you. :D

I kicked the depression, moved into an apartment with my sister (and Boocat, of course), and got sucked into Merlin fandom. Writing quite a lot of fic and thinking about becoming a professional beta (that is, copyeditor). I play WoW, too!

Hi there!

Sounds like you're doing great! Merlin fandom ...is that like from a specific movie/tv show/book, or is it just the King Arthur legend in general? Sounds interesting either way ... My latest love is Batman/Superman ...gotta love men in tights, hee! And good luck becoming an editor ...my best friend from high school went to college for that, and now she's editing web sites and loves it!

:3 So glad you asked!

It's a BBC series that started in 2008; season three happens this fall. I'd describe it as a crack AU of Arthurian legend, and say that if you liked A Knight's Tale you'd probably like this too. I have episode downloads up if you're curious.

Yay for men in tights!! And, thank you. :D

Oh, I have seen that show! Or at least the first half-season, I think. I don't remember what happened to my source ...I was either watching it on Hulu or Netflix. It is definitely AU ...I remember thinking that they just took all the Arthurian character's names and stuck them on completely different characters, LOL, but it was definitely fun to watch.

Speaking of men in tights, have you seen the Robin Hood show on BBC?

I wondered where you'd got to! Welcome back to the internets :D!

I, er. Came out as a transman (hello, I'm a dude *waves*), moved in with my boyfriend, and we started dating this wonderful woman, making my heart very very happy since I've always wanted to be in a triad. We were in two triads, until recently, when one of our girlfriends ended things with me (hopefully we're just on a break, it's one of those things-happened-but-it-might-not-be-over things) so now we're in one triad and one V. I love being poly. Still sick, pretty severely now, but on several treatments at once, all of which are helping a lot. Also, I took up vidding and added about twelve more fandoms to my heart.

I am...doing exactly what I was before, fandom-wise, lol. Just in a different place! I had a student kind of gently mention that IF someone were to write certain kinds of fiction and IF that someone had lots of comic book stuff in her office and IF that person's username included both their name and location...then maybe they're a little too easy to find. So it was time to break a bunch of links and provide plausible deniability...I love the student, she's great, but in some ways I didn't feel comfortable saddling her with the responsibility of knowing where I was, you know?

Other than that one big shift, though, all is much the same, lol! Monomania for the win... :) I'm happy to see you around again though, yay!

Yeah, I've wondered about that myself, and whether I should maybe consider removing my RL name (Nicki) from my blog. However, I have Googled myself (and all of my professional e-mail addresses) numerous times without any successful findings of my writings, so I figure that I'm pretty decently safe.

Thanks for the welcome back! I hope to be posting more S/B related writings in the future, since it's been all up in my brain lately. ;D
