Anyone know an easy, good recipe for creme brulee??? I had some a couple of weeks ago & it was the first time I have ever had it. It was to die for!!! I want to make it, but I'm not much of a cook. Any help???
4 cups heavy cream 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 cup sugar 6 egg yolks 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
Preheat oven to 300 degrees. In a medium sauce pan, heat the cream and vanilla to a simmer. Remove pan from heat and let sit for 10 minutes. In a bowl whisk together the sugar and yolks until they are a pale yellow. Whisk cream into the egg mixture and pour into 6 custard dishes.
Place dishes in a large baking dish lined with a towel. Pour boiling water into baking dish so that it comes to half way up the custard dishes. Bake for 30 minutes or until custard is firm but still wiggles. Chill for at least one hour. Top with brown sugar in an even layer and place under broiler until sugar melts and bubbles. Serve at room temperature.
If you have a little chef's torch you can use that to melt/brown the sugar on top.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I will try it tonight & I'll let you know how they turn out tomorrow. :) I was waiting for you to reply. I know how wonderful of a cook you are! :)
Aw, thanks! I hope it works out. The hardest part is knowing when to take it out of the oven. You don't want it to be runny, but you most cetainly don't want it overcooked, because then it looses all creaminess. Happy cooking!
actually I have always heard it was very difficult to make. I LOVE it too, my step mom makes it, and I love it as well. However, I am no cook either. So maybe it's only hard for me. In fact, to prove my cooking skills, I tried to read through Agustina's recipe, but I just could only gloss over it. It's all greek to me. :)
I do know HOW to read recipes and can actually do them, but that seems to have a few too many steps for me. LOL
