Beeping generally has nothing to do with sound drivers, so firstly let me say that notebook is possibly screwed.

You can confirm it's just a software fault and test the likely hardware culprits by running some system test tools:
Seatools (burn the image using Nero or similar) for the HDD (boot the CD, agree with the licence agreement, then press L for long test and wait for it to finish).
Memtest for the RAM (boot from the CD and let it run for at least a few full passes).
If the notebook beeps while running those discs, it's a hardware problem, because the drivers aren't in play. They have the side effect of possibly telling you what's fautly.

So... run those, if they come up OK, I'd advise reinstalling Windows should fix your problem.

I'd also advise a hammer.
Will most definitely fix the situation and can result in a great deal of personal satisfaction ;)

Cheers :) I'll give those a go.

I thought they often used the PC speaker if the sound card wasn't working? It seems to beep when it would normally use a sound.

I'll let you know how it goes.

There are links to the bible and the book of mormon one too. Thought you might like to bookmark them if you haven't already. :)
