That's sad, but I'm really not surprised, not after my child was bullied for his handicap. The behavior is common. It is wonderful that the community is pulling together for support. I hope this opens the eyes of the schools and families and that they will learn to watch for that type of behavior.

Wow... I was never physically abused but... I still relate to being bullied. Autism is usually one of the main causes for bullying. Us autistics are bullied for our odd behaviors. I was often bullied for making faces and being aggressive in kindergarten... back then I didn't have the Autism diagnosis but I still had trouble with this.

My mom even says I egged them on but I really didn't. Autistic people do a lot of odd behaviors that encourage bullies to go after them for being strange or not acting normal. What's harder for autistic people is sometimes they can be non verbal or have a hard time expressing themselves.

This can cause a lot of them to find it hard to tell a teacher what is going on. Sometimes the teacher doesn't realize how autism can take affect for bullying so it's shrugged off as the child being too sensitive or it being their fault because of their autism.

I'm glad that the boy got help from very unlikely people. That is good to hear.
