I could sort of swamp you if I started to think about it. So just, when is Ash's birthday?

Ash- His future. He's been making closer and closer friends in camp. Does he still want to go home and not have contact with them ever? His possibly aging slowly thing and revolution? How's his skill with his magic and how far do you think he'll be able to have it? Is he still growing? What does he wear now that there is more clothes available? WHEN THE HELL IS YOUR BIRTHDAY AND WHY DIDN'T WE CELEBRATE IT

This is a very hard question, honestly. Ash is such a Virgo that it sort of hurts, but that puts his birthday later in the year than I think Jesse intended. But oh well, he's really seriously a Virgo. Which means that we probably missed his birthday, were it to be at the tail end of summer, but really we can pick any date between Aug 23 and Sept 23. I don't think he really celebrates it.

I'm currently reading Joseph Kitagawa's On Understanding Japanese Religion and not typing this comment. For the record.

I was curious about two things: What are Otoya's thoughts on yaoi fatherhood?

And for Rui, Shizuka versus Makino in a jello-wrestling match. Who does Rui bet on.

Ah, understood.

Otoya's thoughts on fatherhood are quite conflicting! On one hand, he has a son, neat! On the other hand, his son is a wuss. And on yet another hand, his son isn't Yuri's and doesn't know him. This, to Otoya, means that a) something happens between him and his woman and b) that he is probably so, so boned. As much of a flighty womanizer as Otoya is, I can't see him purposefully being a deadbeat dad. So he figures something bad is going to happen to him very soon. And that sucks. So he's going to do what he can to be a good father now even though his son is practically as old as he is. He cares a lot about Wataru, and looks out for him in camp. Basically, in his silly Otoya way, he's embraced this totally weird fatherhood.

...oooh, that's a tough one. I think he bets on Makino, because while Shizuka is pretty and talented, the commoner is wily and more physical.

I'm asking you and Tsukasa the same thing because it is relevant to my interests ^^b

In the drama, it's always Tsukasa/Rui and Soujirou/Akira. We don't see a whole lot of the cross interaction, even though it clearly exists if they're all bff.
Oh plot. You get in the way of pointless antics that so obviously happen.

Anyway.

What kind of relationship do you see Rui and Soujirou having? ♥

Hmm. This is a tough question, because like you said, we don't see them together that much. I think that they're in a lot of ways united by just...having always been together? Their interests seem pretty disparate. I tend to think that Rui gets Soujirou, but his essential nature (that is, quiet and cool and generally not-interfering) prevents him from doing much about it. Akira is there to help Soujirou, he doesn't need Rui. But I can see Rui doing things like going over and having tea ceremony fairly regularly just because it's soothing and repetitive and something they can do quietly together. He's always willing to listen, he's just extraordinarily bad at talking, and Jirou seems to need the talking.

I think Layla was too caught up in Her Plan to have seriously considered it at that point. She seemed pretty fixated. But since then, I think she's thought about it a lot. Wondered what it would have been like, etc etc etc
