Today is the 17th of Feb. 2006 (at least last I checked), so why the clarification about the date it was written?

Because I manually edited the date to say the 14th, since this post was basically a post I had in mind since the end of the 14th.

Ahhh...it stilled showed up at the top of my friend's page (in front of more recent entries of other friends) so I didn't actually look at the date on the post. Silly me.

Yeah, LJ puts them in order of actual posting time on friends' pages. Unless you've marked it as "backdated", in which case it doesn't show up at all on friends' pages.
