I was a bit off on the mileage - it's actually 6 miles each way...   all the better!

Took the river bottom home - much nicer ride, although slower, I presume because it's all dirt roads.  Here's the view:

I rode my bike to work today for the first time.  Not that big a deal, it's only about 4.5 miles, and flat.  Although it is very disconcerting to have a semi pass you on a bike!  (I work in an industrial trucking area of town)  I have been waiting for the weather to cool down - I am not riding to work in 100degree weather!

I was watching the new show Fringe on sunday (seems like a pretty cool show), and they had a preview of the upcoming film remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still.  The alien will be played by Keanu Reeves.  I can't imagine a better part for him - an alien that shows no suggestion of emotion or character!

I am a National Geographic junkie - big surprise...

The peace symbol turned 50 years old this year.  This I knew.

This I did not:  It was created by British artist Gerald Holtom, from the two semaphore signals for N and D.  Nuclear Disarmament.
