I'm sure this is going to be a great read (I enjoyed your other massive mythology-related fic, "Dark Seed") but I don't read WIPs. I got burned a couple of times and quit.

Sorry.

But I will definitely give it a shot once it's done.

I've never posted a story as a WIP either. I'm the anxious sort. Having something hanging out there... Yeah, there's no way. I'm getting fidgety just thinking about it.

LOL! You've won the award, wendelah1. The first time I've ever gotten a comment to say that a reader won't comment! :-D

I would have guessed that you wouldn't read because of the whiff of babyfic around it, so I appreciate that you're game to try when it's finished.

I certainly never read WIP's back in the XF days, but after I took the plunge writing a couple, first I knew I could finish (most of) them and learned their value. With that real time feedback, the writer can see what's connecting with the readers and what needs a bit more work. Still takes some blinders to ignore any fussybooting from the occasional reader thinking the story is written on order. "I don't like this POV! Change it!" Er...

I've never posted a story as a WIP either. I'm the anxious sort. Having something hanging out there... For me, at least, it has to be a certain type of story. The action/adventure sort, with cliffhangers on nearly every chapter--really plot-driven. Those just sort of write themselves. Plus it helps that I can pound out the words ( ... )

Yeah, I really am burned out on the curtainfic/babyfic genre, aren't I? 50,000 words of Mulder going to Lamaze classes and learning how to change a diaper. No, no thank you. But it's not like I've never read it or recced it. One of the first stories I nominated for discussion at xf_book_club was babyfic.

Of course, I'm hoping for the kind of babyfic where you kill off his adoptive parents and William too. I'd be okay with that. I'd be more than okay with that.

The action/adventure sort, with cliffhangers on nearly every chapter--really plot-driven. Those just sort of write themselves. Plus it helps that I can pound out the words like a typewriter dropped down a flight of stairs. :-D

Yeah, I write pretty fast too, especially if I have a deadline. But I need to have the completed story all lined up in front of me to make sure it fits together and does what I want it to do.

X-Files!!!!
I can't even say how exciting it is to see someone writing X-Files fic again! And a doozy! I love that you're taking things from after the last movie. Wouldn't it be nice to see where they go to from there? I don't know how often I'll get to keep up with this story but maybe it will be a nice long fic by the time I get on lj again...something to take back to my village and enjoy on rainy afternoons.

So sad to see how far Scully and Mulder have separated. And heartbreaking when Scully said, "William". She just knew. A great detail that Mika calls her "the Mother". Of all the people she sees, Scully is the Mother and is Sammy's mother.

I look forward to more
