Not going to lie, when I first read that Carolanne was in this, I was like "Oh no, not in this one too!"
But this chapter made me feel very warm and fuzzy! I love how you used books as their means of communication, LOVE. ♥
But when she opened the door, it was Bill, rain dripping off his hair. Water beaded on his leather jacket. His hands were shoved in his pockets. His face looked even more hound dog sad than normal.
"Laura, I--"
She didn't give him a chance say anything more. Whatever he would say, it would be a waste of precious time. She grabbed a handful of his jacket and yanked him into the apartment.
I love Carolanne in the beginning. She was just right. That attitude she has because, even though they are divorced, she knows him very well. And the way he uses that straight back at her.
Not even going to read the flashbacks again. *sniff*
I told you the cutline was brill, but so are the excerpts from the novel. I love that he is sending them chapter by chapter. And I'm loving that she is so eager for the next one, but that fact is annoying her. Hee.
I got the bit of the giggles half way through reading this btw, because I kept thinking 'love means never having to say you're sorry'. Random comment I know, but it was amusing me anyway.
And yay for yanking! And Laura's already wet. Very handy. ;)

It might have been interesting if she'd survived that attacks. The ex-wife, harping on the Commander/Admiral, while Sonny Boy sniveled in the background.

Sorry! It was pretty tough to write them too!

Well, we know he's not going to apologize!

You know my issues about Laura being checked for wetness. He's able to see it. No dip stick necessary.

you know, after 11h of sleep i opened my eyes and my first thought was: what if there's nunfic and i'm late for the party? =P haven't read yet but it better be 'happytimes with bill and laura' or i'll be moody all weekend! *pouts*
Bill's working through what he can, in the way he can, through the words that are finally coming through, and Laura's recognizing (subconsciously, then consciously) that it hadn't been about her, but that his grief was something he wasn't accustomed to being able to share with anyone
I think that's really important. It's not just about wooing her back, but his need to process things through his writing, just as BSG Bill had to read to express his thoughts. And like canon Laura, this Laura can listen when it's the literary voice she's accustomed to.
Laura's own memory of a child in the morgue...different children, different relations, but shared anguish. It has always struck me that they have shared experiences, yet react differently. He would never have taken Hera, for example, and knowing that, she kept her actions from him
